Julie Dawson Williams, along with her husband, Brian, became the second-generation owners of Dawson Insurance Agency in 2013. Jon and Nancy Dawson acquired Richard S. Bradford Insurance in 1989, and the company had already been operating since 1956. This longstanding business has proudly served the communities of Bangor, Brewer, Eddington, Hampden, Hermon, Old Town, Orono, Orrington, Veazie, and throughout Eastern and Central Maine for more than 65 years.
Julie graduated from Bangor High School in 1999 and Bowdoin College in 2003. After graduating from college, Julie moved to Washington, D.C. to work in the office of U.S. Senator Susan M. Collins in several capacities, and finally as the Legislative Correspondent on healthcare, art, and historic preservation issues. In 2006, Julie started working for the New England Council as Deputy Director of Federal Affairs, specializing in economic development advocacy on Capitol Hill representing the six New England states. Julie focused on higher education, healthcare, and technology policy.
In March of 2008, Julie and her husband returned to Bangor. Julie is proud to be back in her hometown working in the family business. She worked in business development for Dawson Inc., which is a family of companies that includes Dawson Insurance Agency. Since 2013, when Julie and her husband, Brian, bought the business, she has served as the Broker/Owner & COO. Julie and Brian are proud to be second-generation owners of these family owned and operated companies. As of 2020, Julie has taken on the role of President & CEO of the company. Julie currently serves as a director for Northern Light Health (NLH) and is Chair of the Nominating Committee for NLH. Previously, Julie has volunteered on other boards including the City of Bangor Planning Board, the Penobscot Theatre Company, and Fusion:Bangor. Julie lives in Bangor with her husband, two sons, and two dogs.
